Agenda
Email? Dreamhost will not connect with gmail, so no emails to ‘board@stevenspark.org’ are going through. Not sure how to deal with this problem. More research needed.
Membership: John Ellis reported about 41 households have renewed… about 20%.
Purple Bag Project- going well; report from Kenda. 33 households committed, Brother Bills is a great place but we can look into other places: Mission Oak Cliff or
City Square?
Stop Signs:
Kenda asked the city to look into more stop signs; they reported that there are not enough accidents to require a 4 way stop. We see people running the stop signs all the time; several have been replaced with larger signs and a red post
Supporting Neighbors:
Board discussed ways in which SPENA could honor personal life events in a meaningful and possibly more permanent manner Ideas included: baskets similar to welcome baskets; a memorial brick in triangle or park; trees planted in honor. More discussion needed.
Carol – Suggested we could develop a ‘bereavement basket’ as well as welcome basket
Block Party:
Band in the parkway at the corner of Mayflower and Old Orchard. Will ask if
Dr Allison is ok with this. (Update: They are in)
BYOB, masks and social distancing enforced
May 1st in the afternoon
Lucky Pierres and Revelers Hall Band (Lucky Pierres are good; no word from Revelers)
Street barricades without permission
Suggest neighbors renew their memberships
Miramar Update (Jane R)
COVID people are there, neighborhood meetings are not happening, they keep postponing
Neighborhood Garage Sale- not appropriate to make it a SPENA neighborhood event; individuals can go ahead.
The ribbon cutting for the new playground at Stevens Park Elementary will be
March 26 at noon, presented by Chad West and Ben Mackey. Carole Somers-Clark and Ellie Hajek will attend others invited. This playground was developed by a collaborative grant from Heritage Oak Cliff submitted by SPENA and SPV in 2018/2019.
