Annie L. Stevens Park is a historic public greenspace located in the Stevens Park Estates neighborhood of North Oak Cliff.  Annie L. Stevens and her brother inherited the 180-acre farm from her family; in 1924 Annie gifted 40 acres to the City of Dallas which became the Stevens Park Golf Course. A portion of that donation was designated as Annie L. Stevens Park, which has been part of the City of Dallas Parks system since 1928.

Today, the park remains a cherished neighborhood amenity. In the early 2000s, SPENA partnered with the West Kessler Neighborhood Association and the City of Dallas to redesign the park’s playground and install new equipment. For more than 20 years, the site has been affectionately known as “the toddler park” and is used by the larger North Oak Cliff and West Dallas community.

In 2024, the playground was awarded funding in the City of Dallas Bond Program for replacement. Planning and design are expected to begin this year.

In 2025 SPENA applied for funding from The Dallas Foundation for improvements for the park. We received $36,000 for landscape renovations and playground upgrades, through support of the J.J. ‘Book’ Wilson Field of  Interest Fund of the Dallas Foundation.

Our ‘5-Year Improvement Plan’ outlines our goals in detail.

In 2025 and this year are targeted on privet removal, starting around the playground.  Privet is an invasive bush which has constricted our landscape, both visually and physically.  We are currently working between the playground and Plymouth and will gradually move west.

We are planning for more seating in the park and have partnered with Methodist Systems for an additional picnic table.

A neighborhood ad hoc committee has been formed to provide guidelines for the playground renovation and we will be able to contribute a portion of the grant funds toward the City project.

SPENA has established a separate Annie L. Stevens Park Improvement Fund to support the implementation of our 5-year plan. If you share our vision and would like to see that plan become reality, please donate today.
